“This is my second year at Bag It/Escape to THRIVE. It has been an incredible week and I walk away having learned so much I thought I knew!!! The highlight of my time has been getting to know all of the advocates for the work they do and—more importantly—for the humans they are. I am in awe of everyone’s background and personal strengths. I have made life-long connections and, as a result, I feel energized and inspired to continue my work in cancer advocacy.” –Jan Huynh

Compare Escape to Other Conferences:

Escape to THRIVE is a small conference by design, with a maximum of 50 advocate attendees. An easy application process lets us know about your advocacy work and how Escape to THRIVE would be a good fit for you. Advocates are encouraged to submit their applications early as space is limited.
Note: A submitted application does not guarantee attendance. Applications are reviewed by a committee and applicants are notified of status by email. A rolling admission process continues until all available spaces are filled and then a waiting list is generated (Alumni, see Alumni Tab). Returning advocates become alumni mentors who serve as guides for new attendees throughout their Escape to THRIVE experience. Alumni attendees will engage with new attendees before and during the conference, lead a table talk on an (approved) topic of choice, be considered part of the Logistics Committee and assist in the on-site conference planning and production, attend on-site alumni meetings, and may be asked to participate on panels. Returning to Escape to THRIVE as an alumni provides the opportunity to not only participate in the leadership conference, but to enhance others’ experiences.
The right balance of new and returning participants makes for an optimal Escape to THRIVE experience. As always, qualified advocates NEW to Escape to THRIVE will be preferentially accepted on a rolling admission basis BUT alumni are always welcome to return, as space allows.

Now approaching its 12th year, Escape to THRIVE was designed by and for cancer advocates. It combines features of a national leadership conference with collaboration and self-care components to support advocates to continue their work effectively—all with the ultimate goal of improving cancer patient education and outreach. No other conference offers this balance of learning and skills to embrace the WHOLE advocate—professionally and personally. A research study is underway to evaluate the efficacy of this transformative conference format. Be part of the collaboration! Advocates representing over 160 organizations from around the country have attended, and many have participated more than once.
Sponsorship benefits to your company:
