Learn mindful “life in balance” techniques for combating compassion fatigue and burnout in advocacy work and how to incorporate them into your personal and professional lives. CHALLENGE, IMPROVE AND RENEW with more than 120 complimentary wellness activities, lectures and fitness classes weekly.

Conference Details

Escape to THRIVE 2020 is made possible by our generous sponsors for an all-inclusive fee of just $569*.  An application must be completed and accepted.

Your all-inclusive fee of $569* includes:

  • All 5 days of conference program;
  • 4 nights accommodations (SHARED ROOM*) at Miraval Arizona;
  • ALL MEALS, refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day;
  • $200 resort credit (compliments of Miraval) to use toward spa services, private consultations, equine experiences, desert zipline and culinary experiences;
  • 120+ COMPLIMENTARY wellness activities, lectures and fitness classes weekly;
  • Roundtrip transportation from/to Tucson Airport on Miraval scheduled shuttle.

*We will pair you with another advocate in a shared room for the $569 fee.  For a single room, the all-inclusive fee increases to $1,093 and rooms are subject to availability.

Your guest is welcome to join you AFTER (not during) the conference if you elect to extend your stay after January 30. Based on availability, extended stays at Miraval will be accommodated at the group rate (at your own expense). (Makes a great holiday gift!)   • Once you receive an email with acceptance to Escape to THRIVE, your payment of a $100 non-refundable deposit (or $200 for single room) will be due within two weeks of acceptance. You may also elect to pay your fee in full at this time.
  • Payment of the $469 balance (or $893 balance for single room) is due by September 15, 2019, installments are accepted prior to final deadline.
  • Payments can be made by check or credit card.
  • Should it become necessary for you to cancel your space at Escape to THRIVE, we will refund your payments (less $100 non-refundable fee) if we are able to fill your space with another advocate.

How Escape to THRIVE Compares:

Application

Escape to THRIVE is a small conference by design. An easy application process lets us know about your advocacy work and how Escape to THRIVE is a good fit for you. Advocates are encouraged to submit their applications early as space is limited.  Note: A submitted application does not guarantee attendance.

Due to the unique nature of this leadership conference, our optimal goal is to create a balanced and diverse group of advocates with specialties in a variety of advocacy work and cancer types. This includes the right balance of new and returning participants. Qualified advocates NEW to Escape to THRIVE will be preferentially accepted on a wave admission basis.

Applications are reviewed by a committee in waves: June 15, July 15, August 15, and September 15. Applicants are notified of status by email two weeks after each submission wave. This admission process continues until our goal of a balanced and diverse group is completed. A wait list is often generated to help achieve this goal. (Alums, see Alum Tab)

Alum

Due to the unique nature of this leadership conference, our optimal goal is to create a balanced and diverse group of advocates with specialties in a variety of advocacy work and cancer types. This includes the right balance of new and returning participants. Qualified advocates NEW to Escape to THRIVE will be preferentially accepted on a wave admission basis.

Alums are encouraged to apply based on recent advocacy work. Alumni applications will be considered/reviewed in two waves: August 1 and September 15. This admission process continues until our goal of a balanced and diverse group is completed. A wait list is often generated to help achieve this goal.

Additionally, there are 4 ways for alums to ensure a return to Escape to THRIVE:

  1. Recruit two qualified first time advocates (from a different organization) to apply to Escape to THRIVE. Once they have been accepted and have paid their $100 non-refundable deposit toward their $569 all-inclusive fee, YOU are confirmed with payment of your $569 all-inclusive fee and an approved* application.
  2. Recruit a new Escape to THRIVE sponsor for $5,000+ and YOU are confirmed to attend (double occupancy) with an approved* application. NO all-inclusive fee for you! (Contact sherri@escape4advocates.org if you want information on sponsorships.)
  3. Opt to confirm your space with an approved* application by paying in full to cover your stay at Miraval ($2,079 double occupancy or $2,599 single occupancy.) Reduced conference fee of $200 will also apply.
  4. Complete this application and you will be added to the waitlist with an approved* application. We will notify you shortly after the provided submission date on your status. The registration fee will be $569 for double occupancy.

Now in its ninth year, Escape to Thrive was designed by and for cancer advocates. It combines features of a national leadership conference and a restorative retreat where advocates support advocates to continue their work effectively – all with the ultimate goal of improving cancer patient education and outreach. No other conference offers this balance of learning and skills to embrace the WHOLE advocate – professionally and personally.

Advocates representing more than 105 organizations from around the country have attended, and many have participated more than once.
